Good morning. Here is what caught our eye in the last 24 hours, from ChatGPT growing a whole new visual interface to a record week for AI money around the world.

ChatGPT just got its biggest visual upgrade since launch. OpenAI is rolling out GPT-6 to all users, free included, along with a feature called Intelligent UI that lets answers appear as interactive screens: maps for road trips, adjustable savings calculators, diagrams you can explore, even a bill splitter, all built on the fly inside the conversation. OpenAI says more than 1.2 billion people use ChatGPT each week, so this is a redesign at planetary scale.
Why it matters: the chat window is turning into a tool that builds tools, and text is no longer the only way we talk to super intelligence.

SoftBank wants up to $100 billion for a new AI fund. Masayoshi Son is reportedly in talks with investors in the Gulf to raise the mega-fund, which would buy established businesses and rebuild them with AI rather than just backing startups. The reports follow SoftBank’s $30 billion investment in OpenAI and an $11.1 billion bond sale to fund its AI commitments.
Why it matters: the next phase of the AI boom may be about upgrading the old economy, not just funding the new one.

Manus raised over $500 million after walking away from Meta. The AI agent startup’s parent, Butterfly Effect, unwound a Meta acquisition reportedly worth more than $2 billion, then closed a round led by Boyu Capital and IDG Capital with Tencent participating. The deal keeps Manus independent in the red-hot race to build agents that do real work on our behalf.
Why it matters: investors are still writing enormous checks for independent AI companies, even with giants building competing products.

It was a banner funding week for AI. TypeSafe AI raised $870 million at a $7.5 billion valuation for its Jev model, Axiom Solutions secured $2 billion for cloud and power infrastructure to feed the AI buildout, and Toronto’s Cohere closed CAD $500 million backed by pension and government capital. Crunchbase counted the biggest lineup of large rounds in weeks, with AI and energy at the top.
Why it matters: from chips to power plants to the models themselves, capital is flooding every layer of the super intelligence stack.

Tokyo’s Arte Tokyo festival opens today. The inaugural city-wide celebration turns streets, waterfronts, parks and public spaces into canvases for art, theatre, music and illuminations, running October 10 to December 31 across the Waterfront, Hibiya and Marunouchi, and Yoyogi and Shibuya districts. It is an invitation to discover Tokyo through culture, neighborhood by neighborhood.
Why it matters: autumn is festival season across the globe, and Tokyo just gave culture travelers a three-month reason to visit.

That is the world in three minutes. We will be back tomorrow with the next edition.
