This week, heritage did the heavy lifting: a theatre inspired Uniqlo collection, a Zara capsule built around Ayrton Senna’s off track wardrobe, and a Saint Laurent house in transition. The pieces worth your money are the ones that were classics before they were collaborations.
High Street
Uniqlo, Uniqlo and JW Anderson Short Blouson ($89.90). Launched October 15, this is the Harrington lineage done right: cropped, clean, and built to sit over knitwear without bulk. Jonathan Anderson understands that a blouson is a frame for everything under it. At under ninety dollars, it is the easiest upgrade in this entire report. Our pick at Uniqlo.Uniqlo, Uniqlo and JW Anderson Lambswool Fair Isle Sweater ($49.90). Also from the October 15 drop, and 100 percent lambswool. Fair Isle returns every winter because it earns its return: pattern with restraint, warmth without weight. This is the sweater you will reach for in January and again next January. Our pick at Uniqlo.Zara, Ayrton Senna Regular Fit Plaid Blazer (C$199). The Senna capsule launched globally on October 12, and most of it is graphic merchandise. This blazer is the exception: a Prince of Wales check, as Zara describes the pattern, drawn from Senna’s own off track wardrobe of jeans, polos, and tailoring. Ignore the photo tees. Buy the blazer. Our pick at Zara.Zara, Ayrton Senna Quilted Jacket (C$169). The other Senna piece with a life beyond the capsule: a quilted jacket, the permanent country to city layer, with its motorsport story kept to the details. Quilting never goes out of rotation because it was never a trend in the first place. One honest note: Zara Canada listed it as coming soon this morning, so consider this a heads up rather than a same day buy. Our pick at Zara.adidas, Originals by CLOT Superstar ($200). Released October 16. Edison Chen took the 1969 shell toe and dressed it in dark blue suede with sawtooth detailing: a premium, wearable take on the most democratic sneaker ever made. Collaborations usually shout. This one speaks in a lower register, and it is better for it. Our pick at adidas.Nike, Air Jordan 9 Boot, Olive ($230). Released October 16 as a general release, not a limited tease. Leather upper, metal D rings, a gusseted tongue, and real tread, in the original 1993 olive colourway. Last week we praised an icon made weatherproof. This week the Jordan line makes the same honest argument, as a boot you can actually winter in. Our pick at Nike.
One to watch, not yet to buy: Banana Republic and Zankov announced a 27 piece holiday capsule on October 15, all brushed cashmere, wool, and a burgundy leather bomber. It launches October 20. If the knits are as good as the brief, next week will have more to say.
Premium Edit
Peter Millar, Suffolk Quilted Coat ($275). The bridge tier had no dated launch this week, so we will not invent one. What it has is Millar’s iconic quilted coat in its newest form: water resistant, windproof, and now with a quieter matte finish. This is the coat for the man whose calendar runs from the office to the weekend without a costume change. Recommended at Neiman Marcus.Peter Millar, 25th Anniversary Cashmere Quarter Zip Sweater ($398). Millar began in 2001 with a single cashmere sweater. Twenty five years on, this limited edition returns to that first idea in pure cashmere, with a hand stitched XXV at the hem. Limited editions usually mean graphics. Here it means provenance. Recommended at Peter Millar.
High Fashion
Saint Laurent is the story, and it is a house story, not a product drop. Kering announced on October 9 that Anthony Vaccarello is leaving after ten years, and on October 16 the house published a new Fall 26 campaign chapter: broad 1980s suiting and leather on Connor Storrie, tailoring that traces straight back to Le Smoking. Whoever arrives next inherits the sharpest silhouette in Paris. The new designer’s brief, per the reporting around the exit, includes building up menswear. We will be watching that appointment more closely than any single product this season.
Brunello Cucinelli, Wool, Silk and Cashmere Donegal Crewneck Sweater ($4,000). New in at Neiman Marcus this week. Donegal fleck, noble fibres, and a soft Italian shoulder: Cucinelli’s whole philosophy in one knit, that tailoring should soften and texture should do the talking. It will outlast every trend cycle currently on the calendar. Recommended at Neiman Marcus.Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater ($1,295). Purple Label Fall 2026 is built on tonal cashmeres and double faced fabrics, and this turtleneck is its purest expression: generous, quiet, Italian made. No logo could improve it, and none is offered. Recommended at Bloomingdale’s.
Loro Piana, for the record, was quiet at retail this week. We would rather tell you that than dress up an old listing as news.
The One Buy
Uniqlo, Uniqlo and JW Anderson Short Blouson ($89.90). The single strongest buy of the week is also the cheapest featured piece in it. A classic silhouette, a designer who respects it, and a price that leaves room in the budget for the Fair Isle to wear under it. Runner up: the Air Jordan 9 Boot, for the man who needs his heritage to handle snow. Our pick at Uniqlo.
